I had read an article that spritzing a blank piece of paper then putting it through your printer will clean it. Nope...it was awful black, now it is lines on paper...how can I correct this. I appreciate your ideas.

Hi @Clarabell1
Thanks for sharing product details.
I understand how frustrating this situation must be, especially when trying to maintain your printer. Using alcohol on paper can unfortunately lead to residue or damage to internal components if the solution gets onto critical parts like rollers or the fuser. Let’s work on resolving this issue!
- Have you tried cleaning the inside of the printer, such as the rollers or toner drum, after using the alcohol-treated paper?
- Do the lines appear consistently in the same location, or do they vary across different pages or print types?
Perform a Printer Cleaning Cycle:
- Access the printer menu and navigate to Settings > Tools > Clean Page Smudges or Clean Drum (this may vary by model).
- Follow the on-screen instructions to clean internal components automatically.
Inspect and Clean the Rollers:
- Turn off the printer and disconnect it from the power source.
- Open the paper path cover and inspect the rollers. Use a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water to gently clean them. Avoid using alcohol again as it can dry out rubber components.
Clean the Imaging Drum (if applicable):
- If your printer uses a toner cartridge with an integrated drum, gently remove the cartridge.
- Check for toner build-up on the drum and clean it using a soft, dry cloth. Do not touch the drum directly with your fingers.
Replace or Reinstall the Toner Cartridge:
- Remove the toner cartridge and inspect it for damage or residue. Shake it gently to redistribute the toner evenly, and then reinstall it. If the issue persists, you may need to replace the cartridge.
Print a Cleaning Page:
- Load a blank sheet of regular paper and select the cleaning page option from your printer’s tools menu. This helps clear residue from the paper path and fuser.
You may also refer to this document for print quality issues.
If the problem continues after these steps, you may need to contact HP phone support inspection to address potential damage to the fuser or other internal components caused by the alcohol-treated paper.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
