HP Envy 5640, ran print quality diagnostic sheet and it came perfect, color and B&W. The problem is I am unable to print colors, but the printer is using the color ink to print in B&W. How can I change this setting, using genuine HP ink cartridges and as mentioned the quality diagnostic test was perfect for quality, colors and alignment.

Hello,

What happens if you Copy a page in B&W and in Color mode to compare?

This unit should also works with single cartridge mode, so if you only install one of your ink cartridges and then print, what happens then?

E.G Install only Black Ink Cartridge and print, or copy.

Thx!

It appear that the unit is set to only print B&W, black ink removed still print B&W using color ink. Used to have an Epson printer which had that feature for photo printing but it was very easy to reverse this mode (useful in case you run out of black but use the color combination to print in black if needed). With the HP unit no one seems to know how to fix this problem, costly printer that is supposed to print color but only print B&W and use color cartridge and wasting color ink to print B&W only.

Went to system preference for the printer, then to options and supplies but it did not have any "options" and could not access utilities for the ink cartridge settings (available on Canon printers).
