Hi @Mikeisfedup
Here are a few methods that may help you bypass this and get your printer to recognize the non-branded cartridges:
1. Disable Cartridge Protection
If you’ve already bypassed the protection, you may need to disable "Cartridge Protection" in the printer’s settings to allow the use of non-HP ink cartridges:
- On the printer’s control panel, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance or Tools.
- Look for Cartridge Protection or HP Cartridge Protection.
- Set it to Off (if available).
This setting prevents the printer from rejecting non-HP cartridges. If it’s already disabled, try the next steps.
2. Use the “Reset” Method for Third-Party Cartridges
Sometimes, after inserting non-branded cartridges, HP printers won’t recognize them right away. You can try the following method to reset the printer and bypass the cartridge rejection:
- Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Remove the ink cartridges from the printer.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
- Reinsert the non-branded cartridges.
- Some users report that this resets the printer and allows it to recognize third-party cartridges.
3. Update Firmware (or Downgrade)
HP occasionally releases firmware updates that tighten security, preventing the use of third-party cartridges. If your printer recently updated its firmware, it may have re-enabled the cartridge protection. You can try these options:
- Check if there’s a way to rollback the firmware update. Sometimes, older firmware versions are compatible with third-party ink.
- Disable automatic firmware updates in your printer settings to prevent future updates from causing this issue.
You can check the firmware version on your printer through the Settings menu and compare it to the latest available version on HP’s website. You may also look for third-party forums where users share solutions for downgrading firmware.
note: we do not recommend other inks
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
