Vertical black line down left side of paper when printing more than one page

There is a vertical black line down the left side of the paper when I print more than one page. If I print only one page at a time, no line. If I print 2 pages it is on the 2nd page. What can I do to fix this?

• Are you using genuine HP ink cartridges?
• Does the copy print out the same way? 
• What's the application you are trying to print from? 
• Have you tried printing from a different application or device?

Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 and have the same issue.  The line is 1/8" from the edge and prints on every page except the first page.  If I print a multi-page document, e.g., 7 page essay, every page after page 1 has the line.  If I print more than one copy of a one-page document, I get the line on every page except for page one.  It doesn't matter if I am printing directly from Word or printing a pdf from my files.  I have seen several inquiries on this exact topic, but have yet to see an explanation or solution.  Help?
