Is there a way to view my toner levels without HP Smart? The printer is just hard-wired to my PC and is not connected to a network. The panel on the printer case below the LCD display has coloured icons of the 4 ink types, which I assume suggests levels should be available to show on the LCD? Also the options under "devices and printers" don't seem to help either. Answers in very simple English for a complete techno-moron please 🙂 Thanks in anticipation.....

you also read that part:"Check printer ink or toner levels from your Windows computer."
via the printer menu:
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thanks but this page does not help. Under "Check ink or toner levels from the printer control panel" it simply states that "Many HP printers display ink and toner levels on the control panel". Mine does not appear to, or at least I can't see how to get it to display. All other sections on this page instruct how to do it from HP Smart, which as I say I do not have.
Can anyone please tell me how to read levels WITHOUT using HP Smart?

Thanks @Andr-1611. I have now marked this as resolved as I have now eventually managed to work out how to access and print the supplies status report, however in case it's helpful to anyone else reading this thread neither the instructions on the page you attached nor the HP support page seem to apply to my model MFP178nw. The status report can indeed be accessed via much scrolling back and forth through the menu on the 2 line LCD display, but the icons referred-to do not apply to this model, hence all my confusion. I attach a photo of my control panel.
I do apologise for being so thick and technophobic, but for people like me a bit more clarity in the HP support pages would have saved a lot of time and frustration. Anyway I'm very grateful for your taking the trouble to try and help.
Cheers
Simon
