I have replaced my 8600 AiO printer cartridges with the ONN HP-compatible ones, and now I am getting a "There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn prin........" error message. What can I do?

Hi @BrianG1over,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're getting a "There is a problem with the printer or ink system" error after replacing your cartridges with ONN-compatible ones, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.
Check Cartridge Installation:
- Ensure that the cartridges are installed correctly. Remove and reseat them, making sure they click into place.
Check Cartridge Compatibility:
- Verify that the ONN cartridges are compatible with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600. Sometimes, third-party cartridges may not work properly with certain printer models.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
Perform a Printer Reset:
- Go to the printer settings and look for a reset option (this varies by model). You may find it under “Settings” or “Tools.”
Clean the Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and remove the cartridges.
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to gently clean the contacts on both the cartridges and the printer. Make sure everything is dry before reinstalling the cartridges.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. You can usually find this on the HP support website.
Use Original Cartridges:
- If the issue persists, consider trying original HP cartridges. Sometimes, third-party cartridges may cause compatibility issues or malfunction.
Check for Printer Errors:
- Check the printer's display for any specific error codes or messages that might provide more details about the problem.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
