No error message. When i print photos, the background is green. I've cleaned cartridges, checked ink levels and done everything suggested. Still greenish backgrounds. Help!

Hi @lakesidejoyce ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting a greenish background when printing photos could be caused by several factors, such as issues with the color settings, print quality, or the ink cartridges. Here are some steps to resolve the issue:

1. Check Print Settings

  • Open the photo you want to print and go to the Print dialog box.
  • Select your printer and click Preferences or Properties.
  • Ensure that:
    • The Paper Type matches the type of paper you’re using (e.g., Photo Paper).
    • The Print Quality is set to High or Best.
    • Color Options are set to Automatic or a similar setting.

2. Run a Print Quality Diagnostic

  • Open the HP Smart App.
  • Go to Printer Maintenance or Tools.
  • Select Print Quality Diagnostic Report.
  • Check for alignment issues or color imbalances.

3. Check Color Calibration

  • In the printer software, locate Printer Tools or Advanced Settings.
  • Look for an option to Calibrate Colors or Align Printheads.
  • Follow the prompts to complete the process.

4. Update Printer Drivers

  • Visit the HP Support website.
  • Enter your printer model (HP ENVY 4512) and download the latest drivers for Windows 11.
  • Install the drivers and restart your computer.

5. Test with Different Paper

  • Ensure you’re using HP-recommended photo paper.
  • Test with a fresh sheet to see if the issue persists.

6. Check Ink Cartridges

  • Ensure both cartridges are genuine HP cartridges.
  • Verify that they are properly installed.
  • If one cartridge is low or defective, replace it and try again.

7. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for at least 1-2 minutes.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Try printing a photo again.

8. Perform a Hard Reset

  • With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cord from the printer and wall outlet.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
