I've been able to print in the past with no problems.  My husband is able to print from his ipad with no problems.  Now when I print whether from a word document or excel, it prints several pages with garbage on each one.  It won't cancel so I have to turn off the printer.  I have gone through all the diagnostic tools and it tells me everything is fine.  HELP!!

Hi @Mholbin,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-In-One Printer is producing pages with garbage or random characters on them, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the problem.

  • Check for Paper Jams: Ensure that there are no paper jams or obstructions in the paper path. Even a small piece of torn paper can cause printing errors.
  • Inspect the Ink or Toner Cartridges: Make sure your ink or toner cartridges are correctly installed and not empty. If they are low or empty, replace them with new cartridges.
  • Check for Driver Issues: Ensure you have the correct and up-to-date printer drivers installed on your computer. Sometimes outdated or corrupted drivers can cause printing problems. Visit the HP website to download the latest drivers for your printer model.
  • Print a Test Page: Print a test page from your printer's control panel. This can help determine if the issue is with the printer itself or your computer. If the test page looks fine, the problem might be on the computer side.
  • Check the Connection: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. If you are using a wired connection, check the USB cable. If using a wireless connection, make sure the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
  • Clear Print Queue: Sometimes, a stuck print job can cause printing issues. Clear the print queue on your computer to remove any pending or corrupted print jobs.
  • Check for Software Conflicts: Check if any recently installed software or updates on your computer might be conflicting with the printer. Try disabling any unnecessary background applications and try printing again.
  • Run Printer Troubleshooter: Depending on your operating system, you can run a built-in printer troubleshooter. In Windows, you can access this by going to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Printers & scanners" > select your printer > "Troubleshoot."
  • Factory Reset (if necessary): If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you might consider performing a factory reset on your printer. Refer to your printer's manual or HP's support website for instructions on how to do this.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
