Error Code: Ink System Failure; I have restarted, unplugged, restarted again, checked cartridges, removed printer head, reinstalled, but the message persists. Yes, the cartridges are HP brand. It sounds like it's the removable printer head.

Hi @Ditterz,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you've already taken several troubleshooting steps for the Ink System Failure error on your HP8600 printer. If the issue persists, here are some additional steps you can try.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back in.
- Turn on the printer and check if the error persists.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can check for firmware updates on the official HP website for your printer model and follow the instructions provided to update the firmware.
Clean the Cartridge Contacts:
- Remove the ink cartridges.
- Wipe the copper-colored contacts with a lint-free cloth.
- Reinstall the cartridges and check if the error is resolved.
Replace or Clean the Printhead:
- If you suspect an issue with the printhead, you may want to try cleaning it.
- Remove the printhead and clean the contacts with distilled water and a lint-free cloth.
- Allow the printhead to dry completely before reinstalling it.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the printer.
- Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Disconnect any USB cables.
- Wait for about 2-3 minutes.
- Reconnect the power cord and USB cables.
- Turn on the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
