HP LaserJet M209dwe Printer

Why is HP forcing me to use and buy HP cartridge only?! This is MY printer. I've purchased it and i should be able to use any cartridge i want! Is this even legal?! You stop my printer from printing if i dont pay YOU and choose to purchase a different brand?!!
Can someone explain this?!

You have an HP+ printer that can only work with a original ink/toner cartridges, if you bought non HP+ printer then using original is not required

You are not forced, it's user decision to get an HP+ or non HP+

This is unbelievable! So you go to Bestbuy and you see a printer and you need a lawyer to go through fine print to see what loophole a company used to lock you in? So if someone wants the absolute typical functionalities of a printer in 2025 they have to sell their soul to HP? I can't see how this is legal! I have paid for a printer which will now become paper weight because as soon as i find a replacement printer i wont spend a cent on such a dark company!!

There is no fine print or loophole. The customer can just get a non HP+ printer, it's the customer's choice on what to buy, and the seller's job is to inform the customer of the device requirements they are selling.

Justify it all you want with whatever word salad you can muster. This is bad faith policy and even if it is legal, it’s the kind of thing that’ll make people move to a brand that doesn’t behave this way!

it’s like buying a Tesla and being told you can ONLY charge your car at our stations and if you say that’s unfair, they say too bad. You should’ve bought a different car!

I’ll be looking elsewhere for printers and will join any class action lawsuit I can find against HP
