Why are my inks running out so fast!!

Had the printer 2 days, printed a maximum of 40 pages (majority black and white), maybe only 15 in colour? Now the yellow and pink ink has completely ran out and I can’t use the printer for anything else!! Advertised at 100’s of sheets per ink cartridge is utter rubbish!! Absolutely disgusted, now I’m stuck with a printer that’s useless to me!

I would like to help

It depends what you are printing. Are you printing Photos?

Photos will definitely use more Ink that regular documents. 

Also it depends on the resolution you are printing. If you want high resolution printout it will definite make use of more ink

More over since this is a brand new printer, you are probably using the setup cartridges that came with the printer which has a lower ink yield since it's meant to setup the printer

I suggest you replace the cartridges or you can enroll in HP Instant Ink Program

I put a new 305 cartridge in my deskjet 2710 today, printed out 10 black and white a4 photos and its run out!! That's 1 pound per photo...what a joke!!
