I purchased a new HP Office Jet 8010 about a year ago with new ink cartridges. It's been printing great!
UNTIL I updated the printer yesterday as suggested in the display screen, and now, all of a sudden, "One or more cartridges are missing or damaged." All cartridges are more than 1/2 full & ink looks healthy. I've shut down & unplugged twice, as well as removed, shaken & re-installed all cartridges twice. STILL, I keep getting this message about cartridges & being told they need to be replaced. Cartridges are very expensive. WHY, all of a sudden, AFTER I updated the printer am I being told cartridges need to be replaced?

Hi @KevinGP100,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Printer Restart: Since you've already tried restarting the printer, ensure that you leave it unplugged from the power source for at least 60 seconds before plugging it back in.
Cartridge Inspection: Even though you've re-installed the cartridges, double-check for any visible ink leakage, scratches, or damages which could be causing this error.
Firmware Update Rollback: Sometimes, an update may bring about an incompatibility with the cartridges. It may be helpful to check if there's an option to rollback the firmware to the previous version.
Cartridge Contacts: Clean the electrical contacts on the cartridge as well as those inside the printer. Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the contacts.
Reset the Printer: Resetting the printer to its factory settings might resolve the issue. This can usually be done through the printer’s settings menu. Be aware that this will clear any network settings or customized settings, so they will need to be reconfigured.
Check for Authentic Cartridges: Ensure that the cartridges are genuine HP products. Non-original cartridges might function differently after an update designed to optimize printer compatibility.
Additional Updates: Sometimes new updates are released shortly after a problematic one. Check if there are further updates available.
I hope this helps.
