Hi @Punny1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing a couple of issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e printer. Here are some thoughts and suggestions that might help address these concerns:

Yellow Ink Consumption: It's not uncommon for one color to be used more rapidly than others, depending on what you're printing. However, if the yellow ink consumption is notably higher even when you don't expect it to be (like in balanced color prints), there could be several explanations:

  • Printer Calibration: Ensure your printer is properly calibrated. Sometimes, if the calibration is off, it can lead to excessive use of one color.
  • Print Settings: Check your print settings. If they are set to a high-quality mode for everyday printing, you might be using more ink than necessary. Consider setting the printer to a standard or economy mode for regular tasks.
  • Cleaning Cycles: Frequent printer cleaning cycles can also use up more ink. This can happen if the printer is turned on and off too often, prompting it to run cleaning cycles to prevent ink clog.

Black Ink on the Interior: Finding black ink where you lift the cover to clear a paper jam can indicate a leak or spill inside the machine. This could be due to several reasons:

  • Ink Cartridge Issue: The ink cartridge might be leaking. Check if the cartridges are properly installed and if any of them are overfilled or damaged.
  • Internal Cleaning Needed: Over time, ink can splatter internally due to the normal movement of the printer's mechanisms during operation. Regular maintenance and internal cleaning can help manage this issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Rachel, thanks for the full answer.

Where on the 9025e do i find calibration - all i have found is Clean and Align?

Is there a setting for print quality on the printer or just on PC when you print a doc?

You say regular maintenance and cleaning is required - how do you do that and what materials to use?

One more item, occasionally, in the middle of a print job, one of the pages that are coming into the output tray suddenly gets pulled back into the printer and causes a jam with the  next page being printed.

Further, once you remove the paper jam, the printer says it recovered the job, bit instead of continuing to complete the job, it prints all over again from the beginning!

Hi @Punny1,

Thank you for your response, I have shared few steps.

Dry foam-rubber swabs, lint-free cloth, or any soft material that does not come apart or leave fibers (coffee filters work well)

* Distilled, filtered, or bottled water (tap water might contain contaminants that can damage the cartridges)

CAUTION: Do not use platen cleaners or alcohol to clean the cartridge contacts. These can damage the cartridge or the printer.

2. Press the Power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already on.

3. Open the cartridge access door.

4. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

5. Remove the ink cartridges.

6. Lightly moisten a foam-rubber swab or lint-free cloth with distilled water, and then squeeze any excess water from it.

7. Clean only the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge, and then allow the cartridge to dry for about 10 minutes.

8. Reinsert the cartridge by sliding it at a slight upward angle into the empty slot, and then gently pushing up on the cartridge until it snaps into place.

9. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer. Try printing.

For paper jam:

Clear jammed paper from the ink cartridge access area

  1. Turn off the printer, and then disconnect the power cord. ...
  2. Open the cartridge access door.
  3. Gently remove any paper that is jammed inside the printer.
  4. Close the cartridge access door.
  5. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer, and then turn on the printer.

Please update the printer firmware: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Rachel. thanks so much for the reply, but the only question you seemed to have answered related to cleaning. But actually i was referring to cleaning the area where you clear the paper jam, not the print heads.

The other questions that need an answer too please were:

1. Where on the 9025e do i find calibration - all i have found is Clean and Align - or is that the same thing?

2. Is there a setting for print quality on the printer or just on PC when you print a doc?

3. Occasionally, in the middle of a print job, one of the pages that you see coming into the output tray suddenly gets pulled back into the printer and causes a jam with the  next page coming into the printing section.

4. Further, once you remove the paper jam, the printer says it recovered the job, but instead of continuing to complete the job, it prints all over again from the beginning! How can you avoid that restart and just continue printing from the jammed page?

Hoping you or someone else will be able to answer my questions.

Many thanks

Ron
