Hello HP Community,
I am experiencing an issue with my HP Officejet 6812 printer. Despite having a full black ink cartridge, my printer is not printing in black. Here are the specific details of the problem:
Printer Model: HP Officejet 6812
Issue: The printer does not print in black, even though the black ink cartridge is full.
Observations:
- All other colors (cyan, magenta, and yellow) print correctly without any issues.
- I have tried printing different documents to ensure it’s not a file-specific problem, but the issue persists.
- I have attempted to clean the printhead using the printer’s maintenance tools, but this has not resolved the issue.
- The printer has been turned off and on multiple times, and I have also tried unplugging it and plugging it back in, but the problem remains.
- I’ve checked for any firmware updates, but the issue continues even after ensuring the firmware is up to date.
Steps Taken So Far:
- Removed and reinserted the black ink cartridge.
- Ran the printhead cleaning utility from the printer’s settings menu.
- Checked for clogs or blockages in the printhead or ink nozzles.
Additional Information:
- The printer was functioning properly before this issue began.
- There have been no recent changes to the printer settings, and the ink cartridges were installed correctly.
- The printer is used regularly, so the ink should not be dried out.
I would greatly appreciate any advice or solutions you can offer to resolve this issue. If there are any further troubleshooting steps I should try or if a specific component may need replacement, please let me know.
Thank you for your assistance!

Try updating the firmware. Click here
If you have performed all the steps from this document and still having issues, it is either the cartridges are faulty or the the printer itself.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
