I have now spent about 3 hours on this site trying to find how to return a failed ink cartridge - which includes a post related to this topic and "private" messages from HP that return me to the Support page where the serial number from my ink cartridge is rejected, there is no link or icon for general ink purchases, the portal does not allow the addition of an ink cartridge as a new product I own, when the ink cartridge serial number is accepted - the website just spins with no resolution of the submission until I finally tire and shut the page/submission down. I am told I need to contact my regional HP office, but given no means to fine that contact number. I would hate to think this of HP, but this has the feel of fraud in the inducement as the ink cartridges come with a clear warranty, yet HP seemingly makes it impossible for a warranty claim to be made. I did everything the virtual agent suggested to test my cartridge and nothing worked. When I replaced it with a new 63XL black cartridge, the printer worked and continues to work just fine. REALLY, can't HP have more class than this and make it reasonable for a non-ink subscription customer to submit an ink warranty claim?

Hi @Stepsite,
Welcome to the HP Support Community
I understand you are facing an ink cartridge issue with your HP Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.
To assist better:
- Was there any recent update on the printer prior to the issue?
While you respond to that, Let's perform a power drain:
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Remove USB cable, if present.
- Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
- Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
- Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle
Update the printer firmware
