I just got my HP printer. Currently the setup cartridges are being used. I signed up for Instantink for a few days but then decided to cancel it. HP did sent me some Instantink which I will NOT use. I've already bought authentic HP ink cartridges from the store as backup when the setup cartridges run out. However will HP lock up my printer for cancelling Instantink even if I'm still using the setup cartridges? Thanks.

So am I to understand that HP will lock up my printer even while I'm still using the setup cartridges? That doesn't seem fair. If I wouldn't have signed up for Instantink in the first place it sounds like I would have gotten full use of the setup cartridges that came with my printer? As I said before, I will not use the Instaink cartridges that were sent to me. I just want to use up the setup cartridges and then install my authentic store bought HP cartridges.

I fully understand. Thank you for helping me. I really don't think it's fair that I can't use up the setup ink that came with the printer when I was only subscribed to InstaInk for a few days. However, I understand your answer and I've already purchased new HP cartridges for when the setup cartridges get locked from HP. This all sounds so weird that a company can lock my printer remotely just because they want me to use their ink and not some other brand. I will still buy HP brand cartridges because I don't want the headache of my printer not recognizing aftermarket ink. HP's ink from their store is competitively priced compared to the big box store so it's just easier to order from the HP store anyway. Hopefully after this InstaInk subscription is fully shut down, things will go back to normal. This is such a headache when buying a new printer. I wonder if other brands have the same ink issues since I've only ever owned HP equipment?
