We are US military living in the UK. We needed ink so I purchased compatible cartridges locally. Once I installed them the printer locked up and stopped working altogether. UK help cannot support US printers. Is this  HP OfficeJet 4655 All-in-One Printer, Product F1J00A, Serial TH62H3904Y Completely broken? Or can it be repaired once we move back to the US?

Hi @TeamG1109,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Issues with Using Compatible Ink Cartridges!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Impact of Generic Ink Cartridges:

Compatibility: HP printers are designed to work best with HP's own cartridges. Non-genuine cartridges can lead to compatibility issues due to differences in electronic contacts or ink formulation.

Warranty and Support: Using non-genuine cartridges may void certain warranty protections. This can be particularly relevant when seeking support outside of the original purchase region, like when you are living in the UK with a US model printer.

Steps to Troubleshoot:

Remove the Cartridges:

  • Start by removing the compatible cartridges from the printer.
  • Power off the printer completely, wait a few minutes, and power it back on.

Reinstall Original HP Cartridges:

  • If possible, reinstall original HP cartridges to see if the printer regains functionality.

Reset Printer:

  • Perform a hard reset of your printer. Unplug the printer from power, leave it unplugged for about a minute, then plug it back in and power it on.

Check for Error Messages:

  • Observe any error messages displayed on the printer's control panel and follow instructions that might be provided for resolution.
