Microsoft Windows 11

I needed to print a label so opened the file, selected print and the main print page appeared.  I clicked the "More Settings" option at the bottom and the HP Smart Screen appears with all the options but then after 2 seconds all the options/words disappear leaving only blank fields!  I can scroll up and down in that window but there is nothing there but blank boxes.  I do have the app on my computer and my computer is up to date with updates.

The issue of the HP Smart app's "More Settings" page going blank can be related to various factors, such as the app itself, a compatibility issue with your system, or a problem with the print driver. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.

 

Update HP Smart App

  • Ensure that you are using the latest version of the HP Smart app. You can check for updates in the Microsoft Store (if on Windows) or the App Store (if on macOS). If there’s an update available, install it and check if the issue persists.

Reset the HP Smart App

  • On Windows:
    1. Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
    2. Search for HP Smart, click on it, and select Advanced options.
    3. Scroll down and click Reset. This will reset the app’s settings without deleting your documents.
  • On macOS, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

Clear HP Smart App Cache

  • Clearing the cache can help if some temporary data is causing the issue:
    • For Windows: Try clearing app data from %appdata% for HP Smart.
    • On macOS, deleting app preferences using Terminal can reset settings.

Uninstall and Reinstall the Printer Driver

  • The print driver might be corrupted, causing the "More Settings" page to go blank.
    1. Uninstall the printer driver from Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
    2. Download and install the latest drivers from the HP website.
    3. Reconnect the printer and test the HP Smart app again.

Try Using Another Device

  • If the problem persists, try using the HP Smart app on a different device to see if the issue is device-specific.

Check for Windows or macOS Updates

  • Sometimes, an OS update can cause compatibility issues with apps. Make sure your system is fully up-to-date.
