Accidentally placed blue ink in black ink tank on Smart Tank 7301. Can the tank be removed and cleaned out or replaced? Not certain what to do now. Had just begun setting printer up for first time when error occurred.

After consulting HP Phone Support and finding there was no HP resolution other than “Buy another printer”. So personally problem solved. Removed wrong ink from reservoir and added black and print quality does not appear to have not been impacted. So problem solved and I don’t have to spend another $425 for another printer.

Depending on how much cyan remained in the system you may see some off color for a bit but I personally cannot see any long term issues as the cyan ink is dye based VS the pigment based black ink. Might have caused problems had you put the black in the cyan as the print head operation might differ slightly. Glad to hear you got it resolved. You have to understand that agents on the phone would typically not be allowed to make a suggestion like that as if ink gets everywhere, some people would be likely to blame them and demand compensation. The unfortunate reality is that tech support starts at the lowest common denominator.
