My OfficeJet5745 is not combining colors correctly. I have replaced the ink cartridge and gone through all the cleaning and alignment steps, but the yellow ink will not show up, so everything prints in blue and pink. What else should I be trying to troubleshoot this issue?

Hi @JPRA1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet 5745 is not printing yellow ink correctly even after replacing the cartridge and performing maintenance steps, here are additional troubleshooting steps you can try:
1. Verify Cartridge Installation
- Ensure that the yellow ink cartridge is installed correctly. It should click into place and be securely seated in its slot.
- Verify that the protective tape or plastic covering on the cartridge’s nozzle is removed. Sometimes, new cartridges come with a protective cover that must be removed before installation.
- Ensure that the cartridge is not expired. Even new cartridges can sometimes be defective or expired.
2. Clean the Printhead
- On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Setup > Tools > Clean Printhead. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform a standard clean.
- If standard cleaning doesn’t work, perform a deeper cleaning through Setup > Tools > Clean Printhead. This option is usually available if the standard cleaning fails.
3. Check for Printhead Issues
- Open the printer’s access door and check the printhead for any visible clogs or ink buildup.
- Gently clean the electrical contacts on the printhead and the cartridge with a lint-free cloth and a small amount of distilled water. Ensure everything is dry before reassembling.
4. Align the Printhead:
- On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Tools > Align Printhead or Align Printer. Follow the prompts to complete the alignment process.
5. Perform a Test Print:
- Print a test page or diagnostic page to check if the yellow ink is now printing correctly. This will help you identify if the issue is with the specific color or a broader problem.
6. Replace the Cartridge
- Even if the cartridge is new, it could be defective. Try replacing it with another new yellow cartridge to see if the issue persists.
7. Update Printer Firmware:
- Go to the HP Support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model. Sometimes firmware updates can resolve printing issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
