I just purchased the hp OfficeJet Pro 9125e.

I keep getting an error message for the 936 series yellow set up cartridge. The indicated cartridges are not communicating correctly with the printer. If this problem persist replace the cartridges. I have taken the cartridge out and replaced with a new one. The new one tells me to replace the old one. I’ve unplugged it plugged it back in and I keep getting the same error message.
Any suggestions of what to do?

Hi @Farmliving

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e is having trouble recognizing the yellow setup cartridge, even after replacing it. Here are a few steps to try:

Check the Cartridge and Printer Contacts:

  • Remove the yellow cartridge again and inspect both the cartridge and the printer's contacts for any dust, ink residue, or obstructions.
  • Gently clean the contacts with a soft, lint-free cloth if needed.

Reinstall the Cartridge:

  • Ensure the cartridge is properly seated in the correct slot. Sometimes a cartridge may appear installed but isn't fully clicked into place.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 1 minute, then plug it back in and turn it on again.

Try a Different Cartridge:

  • If the issue persists with a new cartridge, it could be a faulty cartridge. If possible, try a different new yellow cartridge.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Make sure the printer's firmware is up to date by visiting the HP support website and downloading the latest version.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
