HP ENVY 5660 e-All-in-One Printer

I'm wondering if my printer is too old to be fixed. My printer is printing but the quality is not good - there are streaks/missing ink lines on the paper. I've cleaned the cartridges three times and aligned the printhead. The test pages don't turn out 100% well. When I'm on the HP website, it mentions my printer is an "affected printer" for missing blue ink and alignment fails. Does that mean the streaks can't be fixed? I have genuine HP cartridges installed, and there's plenty of black ink. I printed something about a month ago and it printed fine.

@italipino11, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding alignment issue!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

You’ve already done the right things: cleaning the cartridges, aligning the printhead, and using genuine HP ink. If the HP site flags your ENVY 5660 as an “affected printer,” it’s likely tied to a known issue with blue ink delivery or alignment — which can absolutely cause the faded lines and color issues you're seeing.

That said, all hope isn’t lost. Try removing the cartridges and gently wiping the electrical contacts (both on the cartridge and inside the printer) with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water — sometimes it’s just a stubborn ink contact issue.

If that doesn’t help, and the issue keeps popping up even with full ink levels and repeated cleaning, it might be a deeper hardware flaw — possibly tied to that known defect.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
