Hi @HoneyPop,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the black cartridge is not communicating with your HP Envy Photo 7855, try the following steps.
Check Cartridge Installation:
- Open the cartridge access door.
- Ensure the black cartridge is correctly installed and seated properly.
Clean Cartridge Contacts:
- Remove the black cartridge and gently clean the contacts (gold or copper-colored areas) on both the cartridge and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth or cotton swab lightly moistened with water.
- Allow them to dry before reinserting the cartridge.
Check for Ink Levels:
- Make sure the black cartridge has sufficient ink. Sometimes low ink levels can cause communication issues.
Update or Reinstall Printer Software:
- Ensure your printer software and drivers are up to date. Visit the HP support website to download and install the latest version.
Perform a Printer Reset:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
Replace the Cartridge:
- If the above steps don’t resolve the issue, the cartridge itself may be faulty. Try replacing the black cartridge with a new one to see if that fixes the problem.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
