Hi @dimubajohn,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025 All-in-One Printer is printing a report in red when you’ve specified black and white printing, this could be due to several reasons. Let's troubleshoot:
Steps to Fix the Issue:
Check Ink Levels:
- Make sure your black ink cartridge isn’t empty or running low. If it is, the printer might substitute colors (like red) for black.
- You can check ink levels on the printer’s display or in the HP Smart app.
Run a Printhead Cleaning:
- If your black ink cartridge isn’t empty, but black ink isn’t printing, it might be a printhead issue.
- On your printer's control panel, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead. Run this a few times if necessary.
Check Print Settings:
- Ensure that the correct settings are selected on your Mac for black and white printing.
- When you go to print, open the Print dialog box and select Black & White under print options.
Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Sometimes outdated firmware can cause unexpected behavior. Check for firmware updates from HP Smart or the HP website and install any available updates.
Remove and Reinsert the Black Cartridge:
- Sometimes a poor connection can prevent the black ink from being used. Turn off the printer, remove the black cartridge, and clean the copper contacts gently with a lint-free cloth. Reinsert the cartridge and restart the printer.
Test Print Using Another Device:
- Try printing the same document from a different device or application to rule out software issues.
Reset the Printer:
- If none of the above steps work, perform a hard reset by turning off the printer, unplugging it from power, waiting for 60 seconds, then plugging it back in and turning it on again.

I hope this helps.
