Why can't I get a solution to why my printer spits out a blank page before printing despite following the advice of unplugging from the back of the printer, waiting a few minutes and plugging back on

Hi @baberuthx,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your printer is ejecting a blank page before every print job, even after trying the standard power cycle. Let’s go through a structured approach to identify and fix the issue.

Check for pending print jobs or stuck documents

Open Devices and Printers (or Printers & Scanners in Settings).

Right-click your printer > See what’s printing.

Cancel all pending jobs, then try printing again.
Sometimes a blank page is caused by a previously stuck print job.

Verify the paper type and tray settings

Ensure you are using supported paper for the printer.

Check that the paper size in printer settings matches the tray.
Mismatched settings can cause the printer to feed a blank page first.

Check the printer driver

Make sure you’re using the latest HP driver from the HP support site, not a generic Windows driver.

Reinstall the driver if needed, choosing the Full Feature Driver.

Disable separator pages or banner pages

Some HP printers are configured to print a separator or banner page for every job.

In Printer Properties > Advanced, look for Separator Page and make sure it’s set to None.

Inspect the toner/ink cartridges

Remove cartridges and check for protective tape or plastic left on the cartridge.

Reinsert firmly until they click into place.
Some models print a blank page if the cartridge is not seated correctly.

Check firmware

Open HP Smart or the Embedded Web Server and see if a firmware update is available.

Outdated firmware can sometimes trigger a blank page feed before printing.

Test another application

Print a document from Notepad or WordPad instead of your usual program.

If the blank page disappears, the issue may be software-specific.

Run printer self-test

Many HP printers can print a configuration or test page directly from the control panel.

If the test page prints correctly without a blank page, the issue is likely driver or OS related.

I hope this helps.
