I am afraid not. you cannot directly substitute HP 901 ink cartridges with HP 61 ink cartridges in your printer. The HP 4500 series printers (like the HP OfficeJet 4500) are compatible with HP 901 ink cartridges, while HP 61 ink cartridges are designed for different printer models, such as the HP DeskJet 1000 series.
Each ink cartridge model is designed to work with specific printer models, as the ink cartridges have different shapes, sizes, and chip configurations that allow them to interact correctly with the printer. Using the wrong cartridge could lead to poor print quality or even damage to the printer.
To avoid compatibility issues, it's best to use the recommended ink cartridges (HP 901) for your HP 4500 printer.
