macOS 12.0 Monterey

Hello, the printer / scanner (3760 DeskJet) doesn`t print/scan color. The cartridge is full though and a hp-test-page did show color. When I try to print a pdf or a sheet from pages, I get a black and white preview and the print is also in b/w. I already tried to de- and reinstall the printer, unfortunately without success. Does anybody know the answer? Thank you in advance.

@Barbet, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are not able to print in color from your Mac.

  • Which application are you trying to print from? Are you using the HP Smart app?
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like a different PDF file, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?
  • Try making a standalone color copy from the flatbed glass and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your Mac.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on Mac

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

Check the print settings,

  1. Open a document, photo, or webpage, click File > Print to open the Print window.

  2. Make sure your printer is selected, and then click Show Details if it displays to access the print settings available for your printer.

    Print dialog with details shown

  3. Make sure the Black and White box is not checked.
