Cancelled my Insta Ink package, bought compatible ink cartridges from Curry's.    Printer not printing, it is connected to the internet wirelessly.  I have tried searching the internet to find a cartridge protection setting on my HP printer to turn it off, but I couldn't find it. I also looked at the Firmware in the control panel and deleted it, but the printer still isn't working.

The printer has a red light flashing and E0 on the panel; it's a Deskjet 4122e printer.  Should I take it to a shop to be fixed

thanks

Hello @Madhat1, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

It seems like you're encountering an issue with your HP Deskjet 4122e printer following the installation of compatible ink cartridges. Here are some steps you can follow to resolve the issue:

  1. Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the ink cartridges you purchased are indeed compatible with your HP Deskjet 4122e printer. Using non-HP cartridges may sometimes lead to errors, especially if the printer is set to recognize only HP cartridges.

  2. Cartridge Protection Settings: To disable cartridge protection settings:

    • Access the printer’s embedded web server (EWS) by typing the printer IP address into a web browser.
    • Navigate to the settings/preferences section and look for any options related to cartridge protection. Make sure such settings are turned off.
  3. Firmware Update: Ensure that the printer firmware is up-to-date. You can download the latest firmware from the HP support website.

  4. Reset the Printer:

    • Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
    • Wait for about 60 seconds before plugging it back and turning it on. This simple reset can often clear minor glitches.
  5. Check for Error Codes: The 'E0' error code that appears on your printer's panel may represent a specific issue. Typically, HP printers have documentation or support pages available online that list error codes and their meanings. Searching for the 'E0' error code related to your specific model can provide additional tailored troubleshooting steps.

  6. Test with Original HP Cartridges: If possible, try installing original HP cartridges to determine if the issue lies with the non-HP cartridges.
