Hi @61Nae-Nae ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are experiencing issues with your HP printer where the cartridges are not communicating correctly. Here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue:

Check Cartridge Compatibility

Update Printer Firmware

  • HP often releases firmware updates that can resolve communication issues. Make sure that your printer's firmware is up-to-date. You can update the firmware via the printer control panel, the HP Smart app, or the Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts

  • Remove the cartridges and clean the electrical contacts on them with a lint-free cloth lightly drenched in distilled water. Also clean the contacts inside the carriage.

Reset the Printer

  • Press the power button to turn off the printer, unplug the power cord, and wait for about 60 seconds. Then, plug it back in and turn on the printer.

Replace the Cartridge

  • If the problem persists, consider replacing the culprit cartridge with a new one, especially if the warranty end date has not yet passed.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.

I actually have the same issue and it’s been really frustrating. In my case as well, the printer keeps showing errors that the cartridges are not communicating correctly, even though they are properly installed and should be compatible. I’ve tried removing and reinserting them, cleaning the contacts, and restarting the printer, but the same message keeps coming back. It feels like the printer is just not detecting them consistently. I’m also wondering if this could be related to either a firmware update or some kind of chip recognition issue between the printer and the cartridges. It’s especially confusing because everything looks physically fine, but the communication error persists. If anyone has found a reliable fix or knows whether this is a known issue with certain models or cartridge types, I’d really appreciate it because I’m dealing with the same problem and haven’t been able to resolve it.
