I have the HP Envy photo printer 7155 and have used the same cartridges time and time again. Over the past week a message displayed says the cartridge displayed (black) is not communicating correctly with the printer. I have replaced the cartridge with a brand new hp cartridge (64). Same message. I have shut it down several times, unplugged several times, cleaned the contacts, checked for the latest drivers and firmware and still get the same message.
Any suggestions would be welcome
Thank you

Hi peachkn,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It can be frustrating when cartridges are not communicating correctly with the printer. Here are steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Clean the Cartridge Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the cartridges.
- Clean the contacts on both the cartridges and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth or cotton swab lightly moistened with distilled water. Ensure they are dry before reinserting the cartridges.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Wait for a few minutes to allow any residual power to dissipate.
- Plug in the printer and turn it on.
Update Firmware:
- Check for the latest firmware updates for your HP Envy Photo 7155 on the HP website. If there are updates available, install them following the manufacturer's instructions.
Reinstall Cartridges:
- Remove all cartridges.
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Wait for a few minutes.
- Plug in the printer and turn it on.
- Reinstall the cartridges and check if the issue persists.
Try Another Cartridge:
- If you have access to another cartridge (even if it's not new), try inserting it into the printer. This can help determine whether the issue lies with the cartridges or the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.-

I tried all the suggestions twice around and still received the same communication error; reinstalled the old black cartridge and the error went away. How do I get a brand new black HP 64 XL cartridge (purchased at Fred Meyers, expiration date is 2025/07/25) replaced since it appears it is defective? Or are there other suggestions to try?
