Hi @Deets1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer is producing documents that are too dark and you want to adjust the print settings to make them lighter or normal, you can do so using the printer's software settings. Here's how you can adjust the print settings on commonly used platforms:

Windows:

  1. Open Print Preferences: Open the document you want to print and go to the print dialog.
  2. Access Printer Properties: Look for a button or link that says "Printer Properties," "Properties," or "Preferences."
  3. Adjust Print Quality: Navigate to the "Quality" or "Paper/Quality" tab and look for options like "Brightness," "Contrast," or "Print Density."
  4. Make Changes: Adjust the settings to decrease the darkness of the printouts. You may need to experiment with different settings to achieve the desired result.
  5. Apply Changes and Print: Once you're satisfied with the adjustments, click "OK" or "Apply" to save the changes and proceed with printing.

macOS:

  1. Open Print Settings: Open the document you want to print and go to the print dialog.
  2. Access Printer Settings: Click on the "Printer" or "Show Details" button to expand the print options.
  3. Adjust Print Settings: Look for options like "Quality & Media" or "Media & Quality" and find settings related to brightness, contrast, or print quality.
  4. Make Changes: Adjust the settings to reduce the darkness of the printouts. Again, you may need to experiment with different settings.
  5. Save Changes and Print: After adjusting the settings, click "Print" to apply the changes and print the document.

Mobile Devices (iOS/Android):

  1. Open Print Options: Open the document or photo you want to print on your mobile device.
  2. Access Printer Settings: Tap on the printer icon or "Print" option to open the print settings.
  3. Adjust Print Quality: Look for options like "Quality" or "Print Settings" and find settings related to brightness, contrast, or print quality.
  4. Make Changes: Adjust the settings to decrease the darkness of the printouts.
  5. Print: After adjusting the settings, tap "Print" to apply the changes and print the document.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
