Hi @Dana_Rishling,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the ink cover on your HP Envy 6052 is locking up and the amber light is on, it could indicate a few potential issues. Here's what you can try to resolve it.
Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off the printer using the power button.
- Unplug it from the power source and wait for about 30 seconds.
- Plug it back in and power it on. This can sometimes reset the printer’s internal mechanisms.
Check for Paper Jams:
- Open the printer cover carefully to check for any paper jams or obstructions. Even small bits of paper can cause the cover to lock up.
- If you find anything, gently remove it.
Manually Unlock the Ink Cover:
- Sometimes, the ink cover may lock if there’s an obstruction in the mechanism. Try gently moving the cover from side to side while pressing the button to see if it unlocks.
- If this doesn’t work, try using a thin object (like a plastic card) to gently lift or nudge the cover open, but be careful not to damage the printer.
Check for Ink Cartridges:
- If the ink cartridges are not installed properly or are misaligned, it may cause the cover to lock. Open the cover and verify that the cartridges are seated correctly.
Reset Printer to Factory Settings:
- If none of the above steps work, you may need to reset the printer to factory settings. To do this:
- On the printer's control panel, press and hold the Cancel and Wireless buttons for about 5 seconds, then release.
- This will reset the printer, and you can try to open the cover again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
