I have a Envy 6000 series printer out of warranty and I would like to know how to clean the printer heads. Thanks, John

Here are the steps to manually and automatically clean the printheads:

Automatic Printhead Cleaning

1. Turn on the printer and ensure it is connected to your computer.
2. Load paper into the input tray.
3. Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
4. Select your printer, then go to Printer Maintenance.
5. Select Clean Printhead and follow the on-screen instructions.

Manual Printhead Cleaning

1. Turn on the printer and open the ink cartridge access door. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before proceeding.
2. Remove the ink cartridges from the carriage.
3. Locate the printhead inside the carriage.
4. Dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water. Avoid using tap water or cleaning agents.
5. Gently wipe the printhead nozzles and the electrical contacts. Be careful not to touch the nozzles directly.
6. Allow the printhead to dry completely before reinserting the ink cartridges.
7. Close the ink cartridge access door and try printing a test page.

Additional Tips

• Ensure that you use genuine HP ink cartridges to avoid further issues.
• Perform a printhead alignment after cleaning if prompted by the printer or HP Smart app.

If you still experience print quality issues after cleaning the printheads, you might need to repeat the cleaning process a few times or consider replacing the printhead if it is severely clogged or damaged.
