It sounds like your HP DeskJet 2742e is having trouble with both copying and printing in black & white and color. Here are some troubleshooting steps to try:

 

Check Ink Levels

  • Open HP Smart or your printer’s control panel to check ink levels.
  • If ink is low, replace the cartridges.

Run a Printhead Cleaning Cycle

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to SetupPrinter MaintenanceClean Printhead.
  • Run multiple cleaning cycles if needed.

Check for Paper Jams

  • Open the printer and inspect for any paper jams or debris.
  • Remove any stuck paper carefully.

Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Reinstall the Printer Driver

  • Uninstall the printer from Devices and Printers.
  • Download and install the latest HP DeskJet 2742e drivers from HP’s support page.
