When i do a print quality diagnostic -the cyan is not showing. I have cleaned cartridge's twice, smear cleaning twice and alignment twice-alignment has failed-no cyan showing. I have changed cartridge's twice ----using HP logo only-#64. Any suggestions? I buy my cartridge's from Target recently and they are made in Malaysia---could that be the issue?

Hi @odielong,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're still facing issues with cyan ink not appearing on your printouts despite trying various troubleshooting steps. Here are some additional suggestions to consider:
Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the cartridges (#64) you are using are compatible with your HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer. Using cartridges that are not specifically designed for your printer model can sometimes cause recognition or printing issues.
Verify Cartridge Installation: Double-check that the cyan cartridge is properly installed and securely seated in its slot. Ensure that there are no obstructions or adhesive tape covering the cartridge contacts.
Inspect Print Head Contacts: If you replaced the print head recently, inspect the contacts where the print head connects to the printer. Clean these contacts gently with a lint-free cloth and distilled water to ensure there is no debris or residue interfering with the connection.
Perform a Deep Cleaning: Your printer might have an option for deep cleaning or advanced cleaning of the print head nozzles. This process can sometimes dislodge stubborn clogs that regular cleaning might miss. Check your printer's manual or settings for this option.
Use Genuine HP Cartridges: While cartridges made in Malaysia should generally work, using genuine HP cartridges ensures compatibility and reliability. Consider trying genuine HP cartridges to rule out any compatibility issues.
Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Firmware updates can sometimes resolve printing and cartridge recognition issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

The cyan color now comes and goes as it pleases. Yesterday I printed five documents sequentially…. The first one came out perfectly fine with blue. The next three did not, and when I repeated the print on the first one that originally came out with blue in it, the blue disappeared!!!! There were no changes to settings between the printed documents.
And yes, I’m using HP cartridges and yes, I know how to install the cartridges. And yes I have updated to the latest firmware. I’ve had this printer for four years. You’ve got a software glitch……
