I have a hp 63xl inkjet cartridge purchased in july (i always keep a extra one in hand)  

When installed i got code that i could not communicate with other cartridge. 

I ordered another one from amazon (same place as defective one) and it works perfect.

Both are hp brand new cartridges.

It is rare, but fake in has been sold before.

To check if an HP ink cartridge is genuine, look for a security label on the cartridge, scan the QR code on the label with your phone, and then go to HP's website hp.com/go/ok

When encountering a communication error with an HP 63XL inkjet cartridge, it typically indicates an issue with how the cartridge is installed or recognized by the printer. Here are some steps to resolve the problem:
 

Check Cartridge Installation:
 

  • Make sure the cartridge is installed correctly. Remove it and then reinsert it, ensuring it clicks into place securely.


Clean the Cartridge Contacts:
 

  • Turn off your printer and unplug it.
  • Open the cartridge access door and remove the cartridge.
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to gently wipe the contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer.
  • Let them dry completely before reinserting the cartridge.


Reset the Printer:
 

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on to reset any temporary errors.


Check Ink Levels:
 

  • Ensure that the new cartridge isn’t empty or near empty.
  • You can check this through your printer's display or via the HP software on your computer.


Use Genuine HP Cartridges:
 

  • Verify that you are using original HP cartridges, as third-party or refilled cartridges might not be recognized properly by your printer.


Try Another Cartridge:
 

  • If available, try inserting another cartridge to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the issue is with the printer or the specific cartridge.

 

Firmware Update:
 

  • Ensure your printer’s firmware is up-to-date by visiting the Official HP® Support and downloading the latest updates for your printer model.
