HP OfficeJet Pro 9010e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I purchased a new HP Printer, The OfficeJet Pro 9010 series comes with one set of ink cartridges. I signed up for the instant ink supply and was given a 1-month trial. I also received a separate email stating free 1500 prints. To consume these 1500 prints, I finished the cartridges that come with the printer and I changed to the HP instant ink supply cartridges. I cancelled the instant ink supply package, and there is no outstanding bill. There is no email notification from HP, stating that the ink cartridges will be blocked. I only found out my ink cartridges were blocked (no cartridges detected) when I wanted to print. I am now unable to print. It is hard to search for help. The virtual assistant is useless, and not capable of handling my situation. I am confused with the terms, "Free" 1 month. Is it because I am using the cartridges that come with the printer that is why HP say "Free Trial"? [edit]

Welcome to the HP English Community --

It's somewhat common that people think Free is free is free - and it is generally not that simple.

NOTE

If you wish to skip the how-to, details, important service contract and cancellation information, scroll down to "Your faster option".

---------------------------------------------------------------

What is the Instant Ink Promotion / Trial ?

The offer is generally for a one month or longer trial to HP Instant Ink subscription service.

To get the trial, you must sign up, select a plan, and commit to the print-by-page subscription model.

An HP Instant Ink subscription is a contact for service - ink is included in that service.

The trial is a suspension of the monthly plan costs during the trial period.

The printer must be connected to the Internet (Web Services) during the Trial and for the duration of the contract.  Connection is used by service to monitor plan usage status and by the printer to request ink.

What is "Free Ink"?

There is no extra cost for ink.

Ink is provided as part of your subscription - use a drop or use a cup full, ink is included at no extra cost.

Important

After the initial Ink Kit is mailed out, ink is sent (only) when the printer notifies the service that ink is depleted and a shipment is needed.

  • All ink activated by the plan and all ink sent to you works as along as the trail / subscription service is active.

and

  • Subscription / Instant Ink remains the property of HP and should be returned to HP at close (termination) of the service contract.

Who Benefits?

Instant Ink is an excellent service for those who print regularly, print high-density documents or artwork, or perhaps print lots of homework.  For example, those who benefit the most include Teachers, musicians, writers who like hard copy, large families, small business offices, community centers, churches, and others who love -- or need -- to print on paper.
