HP Officejet 4635 e-All-in-One Printer

Have had Officejet 4635 all-in-one printer for 8 years now.  Been working just fine.   Had recently twice used the compatible cartridges from OfficeDepot.   Printer now says this about the color one: "The following ink Cartridge must be replaced".   And upon printing from my computer, the error screen from HP says:  "Ink cartridge failure" -- TriColor    Cartridges listed above are damaged or have failed."

I have tried all these steps with no success:

1/ Two times: bought and put in genuine HP 61XL cartridges  but the same error appears.

2/ In between those tries, have pulled the power plug, plugged back in.

3/ Used cotton swab dampened with rubbing alcohol and cleaned the 'chip'/copper contact points on both the cartridge and on the printer side where you insert the cartridge into.

4/ Can't find HP support # to try to talk to a 'live' person to find any other tricks.

Thank you for your input.

Hi @LouisHT,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I'd like to help!

I understand you are facing a cartridge error.

If you have already performed the steps from the document Ink cartridge errors and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

I've sent you a private message with further instructions to get this issue sorted.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
