I have an error with the HP Laser MFP 135w printer, the toner has changed and the "cartridge not installed" appears on the display. Tried changing several new cartridges, but the same error appears!

Hi @Natura1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you've replaced the toner cartridge in your HP Laser MFP 135w printer and you're still seeing the "cartridge not installed" error message, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

  • Check the Installation: Ensure that the toner cartridge is properly installed. Make sure it's securely seated in the printer and that you've removed any protective seals or tabs from the cartridge.
  • Power Cycle the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 30 seconds. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. Sometimes, a simple power cycle can resolve minor issues.
  • Update Firmware: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer on the HP support website. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.
  • Clean Contacts: The electrical contacts on the toner cartridge and inside the printer can accumulate dust or debris over time, which may interfere with communication. Gently clean these contacts with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab.
  • Reset the Printer: Perform a cold reset on your printer. This process will reset the printer to its default settings and often resolves various issues. Consult your printer's manual or HP's website for instructions on how to do this.
  • Check for Paper Jams: Sometimes, a small piece of paper or debris can block the cartridge or sensor, causing errors. Check for any paper jams and remove them carefully.
  • Inspect the Cartridge Slot: Inspect the cartridge slot in the printer for any damage or foreign objects that may be obstructing the cartridge from seating properly.
  • Try Another Outlet: Plug your printer into a different electrical outlet to ensure there's no issue with the power source.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
