Hi @marinescom,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check the Cartridge Compatibility:
- Ensure that the black cartridge is indeed compatible with the HP DeskJet 2720e printer. Confirm that you are using a genuine HP 305XL black cartridge, as specified for this printer model.
Reinstall the Cartridge:
- Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Open the cartridge access door and remove the black cartridge.
- Inspect for any tape or packaging that might still be attached to the cartridge and remove it.
- Reinsert the cartridge, ensuring it clicks into place securely.
- Close the access door, plug the printer back in, and turn it on.
Check for Cartridge Error Messages:
- See if the printer's display shows any specific error messages. This can provide insights into what might be wrong with the cartridge.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Ensure your printer’s firmware is up-to-date. You can check and download any updates from the HP Support website.
Clean the Cartridge Contacts:
- Gently clean the cartridge contacts and the carriage contacts where the cartridge is inserted with a lint-free cloth and distilled water. Make sure the printer is turned off and unplugged before doing this.
Reset the Printer:
- With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and to the printer.
- Turn on the printer.
Try a Different Cartridge:
- If none of the above steps solve the issue, try using a different black cartridge to rule out the possibility of a defective cartridge.
I hope this helps.
