I have an 8035e printer. I purchased generic 910xl cartridges and they will not work. The message on my printer is "the indicated cartridges have been identified as altered or cloned". I have disabled the cartridge setup and tried every other fix I can find on the internet. I continue to get the same message. PLEASE HELP ME - I am tired of going to the library to print something.

Hi @im4rmk ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the frustration you're experiencing with your printer. When using generic or third-party ink cartridges, leading to compatibility issues. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem:
Check for Firmware Updates: Make sure your printer's firmware is up-to-date. Manufacturers often release firmware updates to address compatibility issues. Visit the printer HP website to find and install the latest firmware for your printer.
Reinstall Cartridges: Try reinstalling the generic ink cartridges. Make sure they are securely and correctly installed. Turn off the printer, remove the cartridges, and then reinstall them. Ensure that there are no protective stickers or tapes on the cartridges.
Reset Printer: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Leave it unplugged for at least 5 minutes. Plug it back in, turn it on, and see if the issue persists.
Check Cartridge Contacts: Ensure that the metal contacts on both the cartridges and the printer are clean and free of any dust or ink residue. Clean them gently with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab.
Use Genuine Cartridges: using genuine ink cartridges can eliminate compatibility issues. Genuine cartridges are designed to work with the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.-
