Hi @barbie_paul ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP ENVY Inspire 7255e All-In-One Printer is not completely using up all the black ink despite having plenty left, there could be several reasons behind this issue.
Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:
1. Check Cartridge Installation
Ensure that the black ink cartridge is properly installed. Remove and reinsert it to make sure it is seated correctly.
2. Clean the Printhead
Ink can sometimes dry up and clog the printhead, preventing ink from flowing correctly. You can clean the printhead using the printer's built-in maintenance tools:
Via Printer Control Panel:
- Go to the printer's control panel.
- Navigate to the maintenance or setup menu.
- Select "Clean Printhead" or a similar option.
Via HP Smart App or HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and install the HP Smart app or HP Print and Scan Doctor if you haven't already.
- Use the app to run a printhead cleaning cycle.
3. Check Ink Levels and Cartridge Health
Sometimes the printer might not accurately report ink levels. Verify the ink levels through the printer software on your computer or the printer's control panel. Additionally, check for any error messages related to the cartridges.
4. Align the Printhead
Misaligned printheads can cause printing issues. Align the printhead using the printer’s control panel or through the printer software on your computer:
- Via Printer Control Panel:
- Access the maintenance menu.
- Select "Align Printhead" or a similar option.
5. Update Printer Firmware and Drivers
Ensure your printer firmware and drivers are up to date:
Update Firmware:
- Go to the HP Support website and search for your printer model.
- Download and install any available firmware updates.
Update Drivers:
- Visit the HP Drivers & Software page.
- Download and install the latest drivers for your printer.
6. Use Genuine HP Cartridges
Non-genuine or refilled cartridges can sometimes cause issues. If you're not using genuine HP cartridges, consider switching to them to see if it resolves the issue.
7. Reset the Printer
Sometimes a reset can clear out minor glitches:
- Reset Procedure:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about a minute.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
8. Perform a Hard Reset
If a simple reset doesn't work, a hard reset might help:
- Hard Reset Procedure:
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait for 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet and the printer.
- Turn the printer on if it doesn't turn on automatically.
