I installed a new hp ink cartridge and it keeps telling me it's empty

I keep getting a cartridge empty error and I've installed a new cartridge.  Help!

If your HP Officejet Pro 9018 printer keeps indicating that the ink cartridge is empty even though it's new, there could be a few reasons for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

 

  • Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the ink cartridge is correctly installed in the printer. Sometimes, improper installation can cause the printer to not recognize the cartridge properly.
  • Clean Cartridge Contacts: Turn off the printer and remove the new ink cartridge. Inspect the contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer for any dirt, dust, or residue. Clean them gently with a soft, lint-free cloth.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes, outdated firmware can cause compatibility issues with new ink cartridges.
  • Reset Printer: Try resetting your printer to its factory settings. This can sometimes resolve software-related issues that are causing the cartridge to be incorrectly detected.
  • Replace Cartridge: If none of the above steps work, there may be an issue with the ink cartridge itself. Consider replacing the new cartridge with another one to see if the problem persists. It's possible that the cartridge is defective.

I have the same situation and nothing suggested from the virtual assistant is working.  I'm so disappointed with HP support system .
