my ink is full and I have checked all the settings and ran alignment and print head cleanings, but when I print the text comes out really light. also test pages come out with good text brightness, and some pages have good color headings but the black text is really light or not there at all

Hi @mommabb,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

1. Check Print Quality Settings

  • Go to Printer Preferences on your computer.
  • Look for Print Quality and set it to Best or High Quality (instead of Draft or Normal).
  • Make sure Grayscale Printing is turned off unless needed.

2. Try a Different Document or Application

  • Sometimes, issues come from specific fonts or software.
  • Try printing from a different app or a PDF to see if the issue persists.

3. Run Another Cleaning Cycle

  • Even though you’ve cleaned it once, run another printhead cleaning from your printer settings.
  • If available, run the Deep Cleaning option.

4. Check Ink Cartridge Nozzles

  • If using a third-party ink cartridge, it may be causing the issue.
  • Remove the black ink cartridge and check the nozzle for clogging.
  • If it looks dry or clogged, gently wipe it with a damp lint-free cloth.
