how to override printer error no detected print cartridges when the cartridges are full

Hello there HP Community.

If you look at HP website, each of their printers explain in the overview that HP ACTUALLY DOES BLOCK THE USE OF ANY THIRD PARTY REFILLED INK CARTRIDGE THAT DOES NOT HAVE THE HP CHIP IN IT.

They allow a refill of an HP chipped cartridge only.  Which means only an HP cartridge can be refilled.

They even state that their firmware updates (which i did two weeks ago) will block a non-HP refilled cartridge "which previously worked."   That is exactly what happened to me.

Only solution is to use and refill an original HP cartridge and my printer is so old that the cartridges it uses are hard to find.

BEWARE.  If buying a replacement ink cartridge from a third party vendor, make sure it has the HP chip in it.  If it doesn't, it will not work with your HP printer if you do the firmware updates.  Even after RESETTTING my printer with help from the HP staff that is on this support community, the cartridges would NOT be recognized, so the reset does not get rid of this "security protection" that is part of their firmware updates.

If you have a cartridge error that can't be overridden. It could be a defective cartridge, poor or dirty contact even defective printer,

The cartridge was working quite well.  It is still full of ink.  I cleaned the contacts and 3 colors of ink are clearly on the paper I tested it on before reinserting it into the machine.  I've tried everything including re-installing the printer.  These are re-filled HP cartridges; one just doesn't who up as having full ink even though it is clearly full.

More help needed Please.

A full refilled cartridge doesn't mean it is working. Did you refill it yourself or bought it?

I purchased the refilled cartridge and it was working just fine.  I've tested ink and even the computer shows the ink level is sufficient.

Contact the seller and ask for a cartridge replacement. That will eliminate the cartridge issues from the printer issue.

I had four different cartridges from this seller and they had been working.  Something changed (perhaps after a Microsoft update?) and now I am unable to print.  The cartridges do work.

One of the exercises I tried (not sure how I got there), gave an "internal print", and the pages came out fine. They were test prints.   So there.  I'm so angry and upset.

What printer model do you have?  Some newer HP printers have "Dynamic Security", with the "feature" you describe.  The HP+ version of some printers also forces use of HP cartridges, in exchange for an additional year of warranty and perhaps six months of free Instant Ink.

Bob Headrick.  You are correct in that the HP software prevents use of a third party ink cartridge if it does not include the HP chip and their security software, which, in effect, prevents the use of any cartridge that isn't theirs.  The various HP techs who give us instructions on how to override these firmware upgrades -- I've followed their suggestions repeatedly --- hours of time on this --- and they just don't remove the error message I'm getting so I can't use my printer to print any more.   Unless I go buy HP cartridges and for $100 more than they charge,  I can buy a new printer.

My printer is an oldie but goodie.  It printed just fine until a firmware upgrade two weeks ago.  HP Photosmart C-4250

Response appreciated.
