Hi @helpme_please,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing blank streaks or missing portions in your printouts despite having black ink, there are several potential causes for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.
- Check Ink Levels: Ensure that your black ink cartridge has enough ink. If it's low or empty, replace the cartridge with a new one.
- Print Head Alignment: Check the print head alignment to make sure it's properly aligned. Most printers have a utility or menu option for this. Follow your printer's manual or on-screen instructions to perform a print head alignment.
- Print Head Cleaning: Run a print head cleaning cycle. This function can be found in your printer settings or utility software. It helps to clear any dried ink or debris that may be blocking the print head nozzles.
- Nozzle Check: Perform a nozzle check to identify any clogged nozzles. Again, your printer's manual or utility software should guide you through this process. If there are clogged nozzles, you may need to run additional cleaning cycles.
- Check for Obstructions: Make sure there are no obstructions in the paper path that could be causing the blank streaks. Check for any bits of paper or debris that may be interfering with the printing process.
- Quality Settings: Check the print quality settings in your printer driver. Sometimes, selecting a higher print quality can improve print output. However, keep in mind that higher-quality settings may use more ink.
- Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed. Visit the HP website to download and install the most recent drivers for your printer model.
- Paper Type and Quality: Make sure you are using the correct type and quality of paper for your printer. Using inappropriate paper may lead to printing issues.
- Firmware Update: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve printing issues.
If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's possible that there may be a hardware problem with the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
