Hi @skiz,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP 9025 printer is displaying a "cartridge depleted" message and not accepting a new ink cartridge, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem.

  • Verify Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the new ink cartridge you are trying to install is compatible with your HP 9025 printer model. Check the cartridge's packaging or manual to confirm compatibility.
  • Remove and Reinstall the Cartridge: Sometimes, the cartridge may not be installed correctly. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and carefully remove the depleted cartridge. Then, reinstall the new cartridge firmly into its designated slot until you hear a click or it is securely seated.
  • Check the Protective Tape: Many ink cartridges come with protective tapes or seals to prevent leakage during transportation. Ensure that you have removed any protective tape or seal from the new cartridge before installing it.
  • Clean the Cartridge and Printer Contacts: Dust or debris on the cartridge or printer contacts can lead to communication issues. Gently clean the metal contacts on both the cartridge and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Check for any available firmware updates for your HP 9025 printer. Firmware updates can sometimes resolve cartridge-related issues.
  • Perform a Printer Reset: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on again. Performing a reset can clear any temporary glitches.
  • Test with Another Cartridge: If possible, try installing a different new cartridge to see if the issue persists. This will help determine if the problem lies with the specific cartridge or the printer itself.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
