HP ENVY 5535 e-All-in-One Printer

my printer showed message that color cartridge needed to be replaced even though it was relatively new.  Anyway I did replace it with new hp color cartridge and reset printer.  The same code exists and cannot use printer.  What to do next?

@ch344, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP cartridge!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand how frustrating it must be to see that message even after replacing the cartridge—let’s try a few steps to get your HP ENVY 5535 back up and running!

Check the Cartridge Installation

Sometimes, even a brand-new cartridge might not be seated properly. Try these:

Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.

Open the cartridge access door and remove the color cartridge.

Check for any protective tape—if it’s still on, remove it.

Reinsert the cartridge firmly until it clicks into place.

Close the access door, plug the printer back in, and turn it on.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts

If the issue persists, the cartridge contacts might need cleaning:

Turn off the printer and unplug it.

Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the gold-colored contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer.

Let them dry for a few minutes, then reinstall the cartridge.

Perform a Hard Reset

With the printer on, unplug the power cord from the back.

Wait about 60 seconds.

Plug it back in and turn it on.

Update Firmware & Run a Printer Diagnostic

Make sure your printer firmware is up to date by visiting HP Support and checking for updates.

Run the built-in HP Print and Scan Doctor tool to diagnose and fix any issues automatically.

Let me know how it goes!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
