Hi,

Are you located in the USA as listed on your profile?

Which ink cartridges are you installing in the printer? what is its number?

Have you purchase the printer from the USA or from another country? as Deskjet Ink Advantage printers are sold in select markets only and not in the USA, therefore would appreciate your clarifications to get a better understanding of the problem.

Thanks for your reply.

I’m located in Bangladesh right now. Bought the printer from Bangladesh and using it for last few years without any problem. Recently bought a  cartridge -number 678. They are getting imported from Malaysia now a days since bangladesh don’t manufacture Hp printer or cartridge. After I installed the cartridge I started getting the error. Also updated the driver but no luck. Do I have to reset the region? Or what’s the steps to do that? Will appreciate your help.

Thanks for clarifying @alron, If 8’m clear with your description that you’ve always used the same 678 cartridge number as always used, than this is not a matter of any region change, my comments were based on your profile which was wrongly set as United States as your country.

I've check the solution link you provided but it does not work, I've even installed a new cartridge from Malaysia but it does not help. We are getting cartridge from Malaysia only now and Since I'm located in Bangladesh do I have to reset any region? Printers physical location: Bangladesh and cartridge coming from Malaysia. I'm using Windows 11, have the latest printer driver installed and I have USB to perform any reset operation. Please help, I'm having extreme difficulties completing my daily tasks for this. Thank you.

As said, this is not a matter of region,

678 are the ink cartridges intended for your printer, its country of manufacture have no affect but only the cartridge number.

What sign do you see below or above the error message?

Have you replaced the Black or the Tri-Color ink cartridge?

Please remove both cartridges, close its top cover and restart the printer.

Now install the black cartridge only and close the door, does it says a cartridge problem?

Next, remove the black cartridge, remove its top cover and install the tri-color cartridge only,t hen close the cartridge access door.

May you able to print in single cartridge mode? either with the black or the tri-color cartridge?

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you. Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Make sure the protective plastic tape from the ink cartridge is removed before inserting it into the printer.

Remove the color ink cartridge and try printing in black and check if that works. This printer supports single-cartridge mode.

Next, remove both of the ink cartridges and reset the printer:

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Please let me know if any of these help, and if you are able to print with a single ink cartridge only, either the back or the tri-color cartridge.

I have even bought a new cartridge and even tried the steps you mentioned but its always saying "the indicated cartridges are not intended for use".
