@Marylie, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're seeing the error "One or more cartridges are missing or damaged" on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e All-in-One Printer, and you're not using Instant Ink cartridges. Let's walk through some steps to resolve this issue.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

1. Check Cartridge Compatibility

Ensure you're using genuine HP cartridges that are compatible with your printer. For the HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e, the correct cartridges are:

  • HP 962 Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow
  • Or HP 962XL (high-yield versions)

You can verify cartridge compatibility here: Which cartridges work with my HP printer? | HP® Support

Power Reset the Printer

Sometimes a simple reset can clear temporary errors:

  • Turn the printer on.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.

Reinstall the Ink Cartridges

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Remove all cartridges.
  • Check for any protective tape still on the cartridges (if newly installed).
  • Gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.
  • Reinsert the cartridges firmly into their correct slots.

Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause cartridge recognition issues.

Run a Printer Diagnostic

Use the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel to run a diagnostic test:

  • On the printer screen, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Clean Cartridges or Print Quality Tools.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
